Sometimes it is difficult or inappropriate for parties in dispute to meet together in the same room for a "face to face" mediation.
"Shuttle" is a form of mediation where the mediator shares information between the parties and assists them to come to an agreement without the disputants meeting in the same room.
We will help the parties think about alternative solutions, outline their options and assist them to look to the future and clearly define what they "need to see change" so they can accept the other party has listened, adjusted behavior's and accommodated every ones needs. It is important to remember that we will not take sides and can not force either of the parties to accept the demands of the other.
In neighbour disputes parties can remain in their own homes, while the mediator goes back and forth between them.
Shuttle mediation can take place at a neutral venue such as separate meeting rooms in a hotel, offices or community centre.
An alternative to shuttle mediation is the use of an Advocate who will speak on a disputants behalf during a joint meeting, this can be a useful alternative particularly when the parties are nervous or not comfortable speaking about their problems themselves yet want a mediated closure to their dispute.
Some parties are happy to conduct a joint mediation session via web cams from different venues or different rooms within a building.
All of these options can result in a mediated agreement between the disputants.
